For many years, an ongoing effort has been made to look for that particular injectable substance which could represent the ideal filling material for the correction of contour defects of the face and body. The liquid silicon seemed to represent the so-long craved material. Unfortunately, over the years complications such as inflammatory reactions, granulomas, siliconomas, migration, tissue infiltration, drainage block and organ infiltrations have been observed. Moreover, literature describes several cases of death after a major injection of silicone. Over the last 15 years many patients have been presenting to our Filler Complications Ambulatory due to the sequelae of several improper silicon infiltrations. All our patients nonchalantly underwent silicon infiltrations, totally ignoring that all medical procedures are associated to possible complications. In many cases they didn’t know the kind of infiltrated material and couldn’t contact the practitioner who performed the infiltrations. Furthermore, some patients referred to have undergone the infiltrations in an unqualified location or to have infiltrated the material by themselves. We aim at showing the complications of subcutaneous silicon oil injections observed during our experience, focusing our attention on a particular clinical case.
