Il Comintern, l'Internazionale Giovanile Comunista e la Fgcd'I (1919-1926)

The First World War favoured the political maturation of the leadership group of the Italian socialist youth federation in an internationalist sense. The young Italian socialists built a network of relationships that allowed them to free themselves from the political provincialism that had previously marked their political action. After the Bolshevik revolution, these young revolutionaries, led by Luigi Polano, supported Willy Münzemberg in the construction and consolidation of the Communist Youth International. Thus, they gave a de cisive contribution to the formation of the Communist Party of Italy and its attempt to resist fascist repression. The essay reconstructs these passages, with particular attention to the positions of the young Italian communists towards the decisions made by the leadership of the Comintern: construction of a mass organisation, united front, bolshevization.
